Boghicea is a commune located in Neamț County, in the historical region of Western Moldavia, Romania.
Geography The commune of Boghicea is situated in the eastern part of Neamț County, bordering Iași County to the east. It is positioned in the lower Prut Plain, characterized by a generally flat to gently undulating landscape, typical of the Moldavian Plateau. The terrain is primarily agricultural land, interspersed with forests and small waterways. The nearest major urban centers are Roman to the west and Iași to the northeast.
Administration and Subdivisions Boghicea is an administrative unit known as a commune (Romanian: comună), which is a local administrative division in Romania. The commune comprises four constituent villages:
- Boghicea (the administrative center)
- Căușeni
- Slobozia
- Sângeap
Demographics According to the 2021 Romanian census, the commune of Boghicea had a population of 3,019 inhabitants. This represents a decrease from the 2011 census, which recorded 3,865 inhabitants. The vast majority of the population is ethnically Romanian.
Economy and Infrastructure The local economy is predominantly agricultural, centered around crop cultivation and livestock farming, benefiting from the fertile lands of the Moldavian Plain.
