History and Etymology

Historical records from the 15th century document the settlement under the names Bochlewo and Bachlewo. The name is derived from the personal name Bochel, indicating that the village likely originated as a settlement owned or founded by a person bearing that name. In the 16th century the spelling Bochlyewo appears, later standardising to the current form.

During World War II the occupying German authorities settled 45 German civilians in the village. Post‑war, the community established a Volunteer Fire Brigade (Ochotnicza Straż Pożarna) in 1956. The original fire station was built with local contributions and operated until 1989, when expansion of the nearby Kazimierz brown‑coal open‑pit mine required its demolition. A new fire station was constructed and completed in June 1993, and in 2006 the brigade received its first fire engine, a Lublin Żuk.

Administrative Changes

From 1975 to 1998 Bochlewo was administratively part of the former Konin Voivodeship. Following the 1999 administrative reform, it became incorporated into the Greater Poland Voivodeship.

Bochlewo is served by local road connections to Kazimierz Biskupi and Konin. The village uses the postal code 62‑530 and the vehicle registration code PKN.
