Bissiga Department is an administrative division (department or commune) of Kouritenga Province in the Centre-Est Region of Burkina Faso, West Africa. The departmental capital is the town of Bissiga. As a third‑level administrative unit, it functions under the provincial and regional authorities of Burkina Faso and is governed by a mayor and municipal council.
Geography
The department is situated in the eastern part of Burkina Faso, within the territorial bounds of Kouritenga Province. It lies in a primarily savanna landscape with a tropical Sudanian climate, characterized by a distinct wet season (May to October) and dry season (November to April). The area is traversed by minor road networks that connect the capital Bissiga to surrounding villages and to the provincial capital, Koupéla.

French is the official language of administration; however, local languages such as Mooré are widely spoken.
Economy
The department’s economy is chiefly based on subsistence agriculture, with millet, sorghum, rice, and maize being the principal crops. Livestock rearing, particularly cattle, goats, and poultry, also contributes to household incomes. Small‑scale trade and market activities occur regularly in the town of Bissiga, where weekly markets serve the surrounding rural communities.
Infrastructure and services
Education facilities in Bissiga Department include primary schools in most villages and a secondary school in the departmental capital. Health services are provided by a health centre located in Bissiga, supplemented by additional peripheral health posts. Road infrastructure consists mainly of unpaved routes, with limited access to electricity and safe drinking water in many settlements.
