Bideford A.F.C. (Bideford Association Football Club) is an English football club based in the town of Bideford, Devon. The club is nicknamed "The Robins" and traditionally plays in red and white kits.
History
The club was founded in 1901 as Bideford United, later adopting the name Bideford A.F.C. It initially competed in local leagues before joining the North Devon League. In 1909 the club entered the Western League, where it spent the majority of the 20th century. Bideford achieved notable success in the Western League, winning the championship in 1976–77 and again in 1991–92. The club’s performance in the FA Cup includes several appearances in the first round proper, most recently in the 1998–99 season.
In 2005 Bideford was promoted to the Southern League Division One West, and as of the 2023–24 season competes in the Southern League Division One South (Step 4 of the National League System).
Stadium
Bideford A.F.C. plays its home matches at The Sports Ground, located on the outskirts of Bideford. The ground has a capacity of approximately 3,500 spectators, including 240 seated places. Facilities include a clubhouse, flood‑lit pitch, and a small covered stand.
