Beautiful Thieves

Beautiful Thieves is the third studio album by American post-hardcore band Finch. Released on March 23, 2010, through the independent label Drive-Thru Records, it marked the band's return after a brief hiatus and was their first album in nearly five years since Say Hello to Sunshine (2005).

Background and Production

Following the release of Say Hello to Sunshine and subsequent touring, Finch went on an indefinite hiatus in 2006, with members pursuing other projects. The band officially reunited in late 2007, and by early 2008, began writing new material. Production for Beautiful Thieves took place over an extended period. The album saw the band experimenting with a slightly more melodic and accessible sound while retaining elements of their post-hardcore roots, often incorporating elements of alternative rock. The recording process was reportedly extensive, reflecting the band's desire to craft a distinct sound for their comeback.

Release and Reception

Beautiful Thieves was released digitally and physically. It was generally met with mixed to positive reviews from critics. Many noted the evolution of the band's sound and their efforts to refine their songwriting, some appreciating the departure from their earlier, more aggressive style, while others found it less impactful. Fans, while largely receptive, also discussed the shift in musical direction compared to their debut, What It Is to Burn. The album did not achieve the widespread commercial success of their debut, but solidified their return to the music scene and was supported by subsequent touring.
