Battleground (American TV series)

Battleground was an American television series created by J.D. Walsh and Hagai Shaham, which aired on Hulu from February 2012 to May 2012. It was a mockumentary-style political drama that followed the campaigns of staffers working for a Democratic senatorial candidate in Wisconsin.

The show was notable for its innovative approach to audience engagement, utilizing social media platforms extensively. It was presented as if the events were unfolding in real time, with characters interacting with viewers on Twitter and Facebook. The series employed a shaky-cam, cinéma vérité style to enhance the feeling of realism.

The cast included Jay Hayden, Parker Bagley, Ben Samuel, Teri Reeves, Alison Haislip, and Lindsey Kraft. Battleground received generally positive reviews for its writing, acting, and innovative use of social media. However, it was cancelled after one season due to low viewership. The series is considered by some to be an early example of a streaming series leveraging online platforms for immersive storytelling.
