Battle High School

Battle High School is a public high school located in Columbia, Missouri, United States. Part of the Columbia Public Schools district, it serves students in grades 9 through 12. The school is named in honor of Dr. David H. Battle, a respected local physician, community leader, and advocate for education and racial equality in Columbia.

History

Construction of Battle High School began in the early 2010s to accommodate the growing student population in Columbia. It officially opened its doors for the 2013-2014 academic year as Columbia's third comprehensive high school, alongside Hickman High School and Rock Bridge High School. The school was named after Dr. David H. Battle (1927-2011), who was the first African American physician to receive hospital admitting privileges in Columbia and dedicated much of his life to community service and educational advancement. The decision to name the school after him reflected his significant contributions to the city.

Academics and Curriculum

Battle High School offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to prepare students for post-secondary education and careers. Its academic programs include standard core subjects such as English language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, and world languages.
