Batajnica is a suburban settlement of Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. It is administratively part of the municipality of Zemun and lies in the Syrmia region, on the left bank of the Danube River.

In the interwar period, the establishment of the Batajnica Air Base (later known as the 177th Air Base) contributed to its growth, serving both military and civil aviation functions.
