Balboa Park station is a multimodal rapid transit station in San Francisco, California, serving both Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) and Muni Metro light‑rail lines.
Overview
Located at the intersection of 19th Avenue and Holloway Avenue in the Parkside neighborhood, the station provides an interchange between BART’s Richmond and Fremont lines and Muni Metro’s K, L, and M lines. It opened for BART service on January 29 1973 and later incorporated Muni Metro service in the 1970s. The facility includes surface platforms for Muni Metro and an underground BART platform accessed via escalators, stairs, and elevators. It functions as a key transit hub for commuters traveling to downtown San Francisco, the Peninsula, and the East Bay.
