Bakounkparou is a village in the commune of Parakou in the Borgou Department of central-eastern Benin. It is located approximately 10.3 km (6.4 mi) north-west of the city centre of Parakou, the departmental capital. The village lies at coordinates 9°25′N 2°35′E, at an elevation of approximately 323–340 metres (1,060–1,115 ft) above sea level. It falls within the West Africa Time zone (UTC+1). The nearest airport is Parakou Airport (IATA: PKO), located roughly 8.3 km (5.2 mi) to the south.
