Babimost

Babimost (German: Bomst) is a town in Zielona Góra County, Lubusz Voivodeship, in western Poland. It is the administrative seat of the gmina (administrative district) called Gmina Babimost. The town is situated on the Obra River, approximately 35 kilometers (22 mi) northwest of Zielona Góra and 75 km (47 mi) south of Gorzów Wielkopolski.

History The history of Babimost dates back to the early Middle Ages. It was first mentioned in historical documents in the 13th century. The settlement received town rights in 1397, under the rule of King Władysław II Jagiełło. Over the centuries, Babimost was part of various historical states, including the Kingdom of Poland, Brandenburg-Prussia, and the German Empire (as Bomst). After World War II, following the Potsdam Agreement, the town was returned to Poland. Historically, it served as a local administrative and trade center.
