BSK Olympia Neugablonz is a German association football club from the Neugablonz suburb of the city of Kaufbeuren, Bavaria.
History
The club was founded on 21 October 1950 under the name BSK Neugablonz by refugees from the former German-speaking territories in the Czech Republic, primarily from the region around the city of Gablonz (now Jablonec nad Nisou). The suburb of Neugablonz itself was formed after the Second World War when these refugees settled in the area, which had previously been the site of a Dynamit-Aktiengesellschaft ammunition factory.
The club's crest bears similarity to the coat of arms of Jablonec nad Nisou, featuring an apple tree. A predecessor club, BSK Gablonz, had played in the Gauliga Sudetenland in 1938–39.
Merger and Name Change
In 1970, BSK Neugablonz merged with the football department of TSV Olympia Kaufbeuren, adopting the current name BSK Olympia Neugablonz.
Competitive History
- The club rose quickly through local leagues, winning the Bezirksliga Schwaben in 1964 and earning promotion to the tier-four Landesliga Bayern-Süd.
- It played in the Landesliga from 1965 to 1970 and again from 1974 to 1981.
- The 1978–79 season was the club's most successful: it finished third in the Landesliga and won the Schwaben Cup for a fourth time, thereby qualifying for the DFB-Pokal (German Cup) for the first and only time. In the first round on 25 August 1979, the team lost 6–1 to Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt.
- After relegation from the Landesliga in 1981, the club declined through the divisions, eventually dropping to the B-Klasse in the 1990s.
- In the 2000s, the club recovered, winning the Kreisliga in 2006 and 2009 to return to the Bezirksliga.
Stadium
The club plays its home matches at the Waldstadion in Kaufbeuren-Neugablonz, which has a capacity of approximately 1,800 spectators.
