Awang Faroek Ishak (born 24 July 1960) is an Indonesian politician who served as the Governor of East Nusa Tenggara (Provinsi Nusa Tenggara Timur, NTT) from 2008 to 2018. He is a member of the Democratic Party (Partai Demokrat).
Political career
- Regent of South Central Timor (Kabupaten Timor Tengah Selatan) – 2000 – 2005.
- Governor of East Nusa Tenggara – Elected in the 2008 regional elections and re‑elected in 2013, completing two consecutive five‑year terms (2008‑2018). During his governorship, he emphasized infrastructure development, education, health services, and the promotion of tourism in the province.
- Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) – Elected in the 2019 legislative election, representing the East Nusa Tenggara constituency.
Early life and education
Awang Faroek Ishak was born in Kupang, the capital city of East Nusa Tenggara. He completed his primary and secondary education locally before pursuing higher education in law.
