Autreville-sur-la-Renne is a commune in the Haute-Marne department in the Grand Est region in northeastern France. It is located approximately 14 km from Chaumont, near the source of the Renne river.
Geography and Administration The commune covers an area of 41.76 km² (16.12 sq mi) and is part of the arrondissement of Chaumont and the canton of Châteauvillain. It belongs to the Communauté de communes des Trois Forêts intercommunality. The commune includes the associated villages of Saint-Martin-sur-la-Renne and Valdelancourt. Between 1972 and 2012, the commune of Lavilleneuve-au-Roi was part of Autreville-sur-la-Renne.
Demographics As of 2023, the population was 386 inhabitants, known as Autrevillois. The population density is approximately 9.2 inhabitants per km². Historically, the commune had over 700 residents in 1830, when viticulture was a major local activity.
Government The current mayor (2024–2026) is Françoise Guillaumot.
Economy and Landmarks The territory covers more than 3,000 hectares, of which over 515 hectares are forested. Forestry (timber exploitation and hunting leases) is the principal resource. Historically, the village hosted a pasta factory and a penitentiary for minors in difficulty.
