Attilio Dottesio

Attilio Dottesio (16 July 1909 – 12 February 1989) was an Italian film character actor and singer. Over a career spanning more than four decades, he appeared in approximately 170 films between 1940 and 1985, becoming a prolific supporting‑actor in Italian cinema.

Early life and career
Born in Brescia, Italy, Dottesio began his artistic work in France, where he first achieved modest success as a pop singer. He made his screen debut in the 1937 French film The Pearls of the Crown (directed by Sacha Guitry). After returning to Italy, he enrolled at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome, completing formal training that paved the way for his extensive work in Italian film.

Film work
Dottesio’s first Italian film role was in La peccatrice (1940). He quickly became a sought‑after character actor, noted for his reliable, diligent performances in a wide range of genres, including drama, comedy, historical epics, and the popular “peplum” and westerns of the 1950s and 1960s.
