Astegopteryx minuta

Astegopteryx minuta is a species of horned aphid in the subfamily Hormaphidinae, within the family Aphididae. It was first described by the Dutch entomologist Pieter van der Goot in 1917 under the basionym Oregma minuta. The species is known from Java (its type locality) and also occurs in India.

The larvae feed on bamboo leaves, where they form sparse colonies. When securing feeding sites, individual aphids engage in aggressive contests with one another, a behavior documented in studies of intraspecific fighting in this species.
