Ashok Dhanuka is an Indian film producer and the founder of Eskay Movies, one of the leading film production, studio, and distribution houses in West Bengal, India.
Overview
Ashok Dhanuka founded Eskay Video Pvt. Ltd. (later Eskay Movies) in 1988 as a distribution house. His first distributed film was Bhai Amar Bhai, the first movie produced by SVF. Over the years, Eskay Movies grew into a major force in the Bengali film industry (Tollywood), producing and distributing hundreds of films.
Career
Under Dhanuka's leadership, Eskay Movies has produced more than 50 films and acquired over 200 films. The company has also digitized over 80 cinemas, operated television channels, owned 5 theatres, and produced television serials, reality shows, and web series. In 2019, Eskay opened a subsidiary in the UK, High Five Productions Limited.
Notable films produced under Eskay Movies include Khokababu (2012), Khoka 420 (2013), Shikari (2016), Nabab (2017), and Doob: No Bed of Roses (2017) — the latter starring Irrfan Khan and being selected as an official entry for the Oscars. Eskay has also been involved in numerous India-Bangladesh joint venture productions.

Ashok Dhanuka was born on 11 April (year not publicly specified). His son, Himanshu Dhanuka, is also a film producer and distributor and works alongside him at Eskay Movies.
