Artyom Shneyerov

Artyom Shneyerov (Russian: Артём Шнейеров; born 16 December 2003) is a Russian professional ice hockey defenceman. He was drafted by the Calgary Flames in the fifth round, 132nd overall, of the 2023 NHL Entry Draft. Shneyerov currently plays collegiate ice hockey for the Michigan State University Spartans in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).

Early Life and Career Born in Russia, Shneyerov played in various junior hockey systems before making the transition to North American hockey. He spent the 2022–23 season with the Dubuque Fighting Saints in the United States Hockey League (USHL), one of the premier junior hockey leagues in the United States. During his time in the USHL, Shneyerov showcased his abilities as a mobile defenceman with offensive upside, recording points from the blue line while also playing a responsible defensive game. His performance garnered attention from NHL scouts, leading to his selection in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft.

Collegiate Career Following his draft by the Calgary Flames, Shneyerov committed to playing NCAA Division I ice hockey for Michigan State University. He joined the Spartans for the 2023–24 season as a freshman defenceman. At the collegiate level, he continues to develop his all-around game, adjusting to the physicality and speed of NCAA competition.

Playing Style Shneyerov is known for his two-way style of play. He possesses strong skating ability for a defenceman, which allows him to be effective in transition and contribute to the offensive rush. He is often described as a puck-moving defenceman who can create plays from the point, while also being defensively sound in his own zone.
