Antonio Busca (painter)

Antonio Busca (1655 - 1686) was an Italian painter of the Baroque period, active mainly in Lombardy, particularly in Milan.

Busca was born in Milan. He trained under Carlo Francesco Nuvolone. While his career was relatively short due to his early death, he produced altarpieces and frescoes for various churches and palaces in and around Milan.

His style is characterized by a blend of Nuvolone's refined color palette and a dynamic composition, influenced by the Venetian school of painting. He demonstrates a skillful handling of light and shadow, creating a dramatic and expressive effect in his works.

Among his notable works are frescoes in the Palazzo Arese in Cesano Maderno and altarpieces in several churches in Milan. While many of his works remain in situ, some are held in private collections. He is considered a significant, though somewhat underrated, figure in the late Baroque Milanese painting scene.
