Antonio Badú (1914 – 1994) was a Mexican film actor and singer, known for his work during the Golden Age of Mexican cinema.
Overview
Born Antonio Fernández Badú in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico, he began his artistic career in the early 1930s, initially performing as a vocalist in nightclubs and radio programs. Badú transitioned to film in the early 1940s, quickly becoming a popular leading man in romantic dramas, comedies, and musical productions. Over a career spanning more than four decades, he appeared in approximately 70 films, including notable titles such as La mujer de todos (1946), El sombrero de tres picos (1948), and Los tres alegres compañeros (1952). In addition to his acting, Badú recorded several successful songs, contributing to the era’s popular music scene.
He was married to actress and singer Sara García’s daughter, María del Rosario (known as "Chabela") García, and later to actress Carmen Montejo. Badú retired from the screen in the late 1970s but remained a respected figure in Mexican cultural circles until his death in Mexico City on August 22, 1994.
