Antoni Martí

Antoni Martí (born 15 November 1963) is an Andorran politician who served as the Head of Government of Andorra (Cap de Govern) from 5 May 2011 to 16 May 2023.

Overview
Martí was born in Escaldes-Engordany, Andorra. He holds a degree in civil engineering from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia and a master's degree in public administration. Before entering politics, he worked in the private sector, notably in construction and energy.

In 2001, Martí was appointed Minister of Economy, Finance, and Tourism in the government of then‑Head of Government Marc Forné Molné, a position he held until 2005. He later served as Minister of Economy, Finance, and Foreign Affairs from 2009 to 2011. As a member of the Democrats for Andorra (Demòcrates per Andorra), a centre‑right political party, he led the party to a landslide victory in the 2011 parliamentary elections, becoming the first Head of Government to be elected directly after the 1993 constitutional reforms.

During his tenure, Martí focused on fiscal reform, diversification of the economy, and strengthening Andorra's international standing. Notable initiatives included the implementation of a value‑added tax (VAT) system, the negotiation of tax information exchange agreements with the European Union, and the promotion of renewable energy projects. He also oversaw the country's accession to the European Economic Area’s customs union in 2020.

Martí stepped down after the 2023 elections, succeeded by Xavier Espot Zamora.
