Antipositive, Pt. 1

Antipositive, Pt. 1 is the third studio album by the Russian punk‑pop‑rave group Little Big. It was released on 8 May 2018 through the band's own label, Little Big Family. The album is performed in English and Spanish and has a total running time of 24 minutes 12 seconds.

Background

The album’s title and concept were announced by Little Big frontman Ilya Prusikin during a concert in Moscow on 24 March 2017. Prusikin described Antipositive as a blend of punk, rave, and rap with a more aggressive and protest‑oriented sound than the group's earlier work, featuring electric guitar elements alongside electronic production. In December 2017, the single “Lolly Bomb” was released, accompanied by a music video that later received first‑place honors at the Los Angeles Film Festival’s Global Film Festival Awards. According to an interview in the Russian online magazine Knife, the band intended the album to be divided into two parts; the second part, Antipositive, Pt. 2, followed later in October 2018.

Composition and style

The album mixes dance‑rave beats with punk‑rock attitudes and rap verses. Reviewers have noted the presence of trap influences on tracks such as “AK‑47” and described the lyrical content as overtly political and protest‑driven. The closing track “Love Is Dead” has been compared to the work of contemporary rap and pop artists.

Reception

Critical response was mixed to positive. Kanobu reviewer Samim Sarwari highlighted the album’s intent to “capture and disturb the listener’s musical and personal space,” praising its fusion of genres and its thematic focus on protest. The reviewer also remarked on the “apocalyptic rave” quality of “Voice of Hell” and noted the track’s literary references to Alice in Wonderland.
