Description
Antiguraleus aeneus is a small marine gastropod mollusk characterized by an elongate, turreted shell reaching lengths of approximately 7–9 mm. The shell exhibits a slender profile with distinct axial ribs intersected by fine spiral cords, creating a cancellate sculpture. The coloration is generally a uniform bronze or golden hue, from which the specific epithet “aeneus” (Latin for “bronze”) is derived. The aperture is narrow, terminating in a short siphonal canal, and the outer lip bears a subtle sinus typical of mangeliid turrids.

Distribution and Habitat
The species is endemic to the southwestern Pacific, with confirmed occurrences off the coast of New South Wales, Australia, and surrounding Tasmanian waters. It inhabits subtidal zones on sandy and muddy substrates, typically at depths ranging from 20 to 200 meters.

Ecology
As a member of the family Mangeliidae, A. aeneus is presumed to be predatory, employing a toxoglossan radula to capture small invertebrate prey. Specific dietary habits for this species have not been extensively documented.

Conservation Status
There is currently no assessment of Antiguraleus aeneus on the IUCN Red List. The species is not known to be subject to significant threats, though its limited geographic range may render it susceptible to habitat disturbance.

Research Notes
The original description was provided by Charles Hedley in 1915, based on specimens collected during dredging operations along the Australian continental shelf. Subsequent taxonomic revisions have placed the species within the genus Antiguraleus following a reassessment of shell morphology and radular features characteristic of Mangeliidae.
