Anne at 13,000 Ft. is a 2019 Canadian drama film written and directed by Kazik Radwanski. The film stars Deragh Campbell in the title role, alongside Matt Johnson and Dorothea Paas. It premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) on September 7, 2019, in the Platform program.
The narrative follows Anne, a young woman living in Toronto who works at a daycare center. Following a skydiving trip for her best friend’s bachelorette party, Anne begins to experience increased social anxiety and emotional instability. The film employs a handheld, close-up cinematography style to depict Anne's increasingly erratic behavior and her struggles to navigate professional responsibilities and interpersonal relationships.
The film received critical acclaim for its intimate portrayal of mental health and for Deragh Campbell's performance. At the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival, it received an honorable mention from the Platform Prize jury. In 2020, the film won the Rogers Best Canadian Film Award from the Toronto Film Critics Association, which includes a $100,000 cash prize. It also received several nominations at the 8th Canadian Screen Awards, including Best Motion Picture, Best Director, and Best Actress.
Production was handled by MDFF (Medium Density Fibreboard Films), a production company co-founded by Radwanski and Dan Montgomery. The film is noted for its realist approach and its focus on character-driven storytelling rather than a traditional plot structure.
