1998–2002: The band released Exterminate (1998), The Inexorable Decay of Reason (1999), and The Inexorable Repetition of Love (2000), each contributing to their reputation for intense, technically proficient compositions. Personnel changes occurred during this period, with drummer and guitarist positions experiencing turnover.

2003–2005: Angelcorpse issued The Art of War (2001) and Death Among the Thousand (2004). Following internal disputes, the group announced an indefinite hiatus in 2005.
