Andrei Viktorovich Kanchelskis (Russian: Андрей Викторович Канчельскис; born 23 January 1969) is a former professional footballer who played as a right‑winger. He represented the Soviet Union and later Russia at international level and has pursued a career in football management and administration after retiring as a player.
Early life and youth career
Kanchelskis was born in Kirovohrad, Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic (now Kropyvnytskyi, Ukraine). He began playing football in the Soviet youth system, joining the academy of Dynamo Kyiv, where he developed his technical abilities and pace as a winger.

Kanchelskis made his professional debut with Dynamo Moscow in the Soviet Top League. His performances attracted attention from Western Europe, and in 1991 he transferred to Manchester United for a fee reported to be around £1 million. At United, he contributed to the club’s first Premier League title in the 1992–93 season and to the 1993–94 FA Cup victory. He was known for his speed, crossing ability, and goal‑scoring from wide areas.
After leaving United, Kanchelskis spent two seasons with Everton, helping the club achieve a fifth‑place finish in the 1995–96 Premier League. He then moved to Rangers, where he won the Scottish Premier League title in 1997–98.
