Ambrose Swasey (July 19, 1846 – October 20, 1937) was an American mechanical engineer, inventor, industrialist, and philanthropist. He is best known as a co‑founder of the Pratt & Whitney Machine Tool Company (later the Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Company) and for his extensive contributions to the design and construction of large astronomical telescopes in the United States.
