Amanda Borden

Amanda Borden (born August 20, 1977) is an American former artistic gymnast. She was a member of the United States women's gymnastics team that won the team gold medal at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, an achievement commonly referred to as the “Magnificent Seven.” Borden also competed for the United States at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney and contributed to the team's silver medal performance at the 2001 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships.

Born in Wheat Ridge, Colorado, Borden began gymnastics training at an early age and rose through the junior elite ranks, earning a place on the U.S. national team. She trained under coach Marta Karolyi at the Karolyi Ranch in Texas prior to the 1996 Olympic Games. During the Atlanta Games, Borden performed on vault and floor exercise in the team final, helping secure the historic gold medal.

Following her Olympic success, Borden continued to compete internationally, participating in World Cup events and national championships. She qualified for the 2000 Olympic team and competed in Sydney, where the United States placed fourth in the team competition. In 2001, she contributed to the U.S. team's silver medal at the World Championships in Ghent, Belgium, before retiring from elite competition.

After retirement, Borden pursued a career in coaching and gymnastics administration. She has served as a gymnastics commentator for television networks and has been involved in various initiatives promoting the sport. Borden has also been active in charitable work, including involvement with organizations that support youth athletics and health.

Her contributions to American gymnastics have been recognized through induction into the USA Gymnastics Hall of Fame as part of the 1996 Olympic team. Borden remains a prominent figure in the gymnastics community, frequently appearing at events and speaking engagements related to the sport.
