Amable Dionne (January 31, 1848 – May 23, 1912) was a Canadian businessman and politician. He served as a Member of Parliament (MP) in the House of Commons of Canada, representing the electoral district of Kamouraska, Quebec, for the Liberal Party.
Early Life and Career Born on January 31, 1848, in Saint-Denis-De La Bouteillerie, Quebec (then Canada East), Amable Dionne established himself as a merchant in his local community. His business background provided him with a strong understanding of local economic issues and community needs, which would later serve as a basis for his political career.
Political Career Dionne entered federal politics as a candidate for the Liberal Party of Canada. He first successfully ran for election in the 1891 federal election, securing the seat for the riding of Kamouraska in the House of Commons. He served one term before being defeated in the 1896 election.
However, Dionne successfully regained his seat in the 1900 federal election and was subsequently re-elected in the general elections of 1904 and 1908. Throughout his various terms in Parliament, he represented the interests of his constituents and contributed to legislative debates as a member of the governing Liberal Party for much of his later political career.
Death Amable Dionne died on May 23, 1912, at the age of 64, while still serving as a Member of Parliament for Kamouraska.
