Alvania aliceae is a species of small sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk or micromollusk in the family Rissoidae.
Description
The shell of Alvania aliceae attains a length of up to 2.6 mm. It was described as a new species in 2014 by Bruno Amati.
Distribution
This species is known only from its type locality, Cala Calandra on Lampedusa Island in the central Mediterranean Sea, Italy, at a depth of about 30 meters.
Taxonomy
The species was first described by Bruno Amati in 2014 in the journal Iberus (volume 32, issue 2, pages 87–95), under the title "Description of Alvania aliceae spec. nov. (Gastropoda, Rissoidae) from the Mediterranean Sea." It belongs to the genus Alvania, which comprises minute rissoid snails typically inhabiting shallow coastal waters.
