Alphonse Engels was born on July 6, 1941, in Belgium. He began his football career in local youth systems before making his professional debut.
Club Career
Engels' professional career saw him play for several major Belgian clubs:
- Standard Liège (1961–1965): Engels joined Standard Liège in 1961 and quickly established himself as a key attacker. During his tenure, he was part of the squad that won the Belgian First Division title in the 1962–63 season.
- K. Sint-Truidense V.V. (1965–1968): After leaving Standard, he moved to Sint-Truiden, where he continued to be a regular goal scorer.
- K. Beerschot V.A.C. (1968–1971): His time at Beerschot was particularly successful, culminating in a Belgian Cup victory in the 1970–71 season.
- K.S.V. Waregem (1971–1973): Engels concluded his top-flight career with KSV Waregem.
International Career
Alphonse Engels also earned recognition at the international level, representing the Belgium national team. He made two appearances for the Red Devils during his career.
