Alligator (film)

Alligator is a 1980 American independent horror film directed by Lewis Teague and written by John Sayles. The film stars Robert Forster, Robin Riker, and Michael V. Gazzo.

The plot revolves around a baby alligator flushed down a Chicago toilet that survives by feeding on discarded lab animals injected with growth hormones. Over the years, the alligator grows to monstrous size and begins terrorizing the city.

The film is often interpreted as a satirical commentary on urban legends, environmental pollution, and government bureaucracy. It gained a cult following due to its blend of horror, humor, and social commentary.

A sequel, Alligator II: The Mutation, was released in 1991. However, it was not written by Sayles and is generally considered to be of lower quality than the original.
