Allestree is a suburban village and civil parish in Derby, England. Situated approximately 2 miles (3 km) north of Derby city centre, it lies on the River Derwent.
History:
The name Allestree is believed to derive from the Old English "Ælle's trēow," meaning "Ælle's tree." The area has a history stretching back to the Domesday Book of 1086, where it is recorded as Adelardestreu. Allestree remained a small rural community for many centuries. Its growth accelerated significantly in the 20th century, particularly after World War II, becoming a residential suburb of Derby.
