Allan James Foley

Allan James Foley (1927 – December 26, 2014) was a Canadian lawyer and politician who served as a Member of Parliament in the House of Commons of Canada. A member of the Liberal Party, he represented the electoral district of Hamilton West from 1968 to 1972.

Biography

Born in Hamilton, Ontario, Allan James Foley pursued a career in law and public service. He received his education at McMaster University and later at Osgoode Hall Law School, where he obtained his law degree. Following his graduation, Foley established a legal practice in his hometown of Hamilton, where he worked for over five decades. Throughout his life, he was known for his community involvement and dedication to various local causes.

Political Career

Foley entered federal politics in the 1968 Canadian federal election, successfully contesting the riding of Hamilton West for the Liberal Party. He served one term in the 28th Canadian Parliament. During his tenure, he contributed to parliamentary debates and represented the interests of his constituents. He sought re-election in the 1972 federal election but was defeated by his Progressive Conservative opponent. After his single term in Parliament, Foley returned to his legal practice.
