Alice Wahome

Alice Muthoni Wahome is a Kenyan politician who currently serves as the Cabinet Secretary for Water, Sanitation and Irrigation. She was appointed to this position in September 2022 by President William Ruto.

Early Life and Education Wahome holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from the University of Nairobi and a Post Graduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law. She practiced law for several years before entering politics.

Political Career Alice Wahome began her political career as a Member of Parliament for Kandara Constituency in Murang'a County, a seat she first won in the 2013 general election. She successfully defended her seat in the 2017 general election. During her tenure as an MP, she was known for her vocal contributions in parliamentary debates and her advocacy for various issues, particularly within her constituency. She was initially a member of the Jubilee Party but later became a prominent figure in the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party, which was formed ahead of the 2022 general election. She played a significant role in President William Ruto's presidential campaign.

Cabinet Secretary Following the 2022 general election, President William Ruto nominated Alice Wahome to the position of Cabinet Secretary for Water, Sanitation and Irrigation. Her nomination was approved by the National Assembly, and she was sworn into office in October 2022. In her role, she is responsible for overseeing policies and projects related to water resource management, irrigation development, and sanitation services across Kenya.
