Alexander Laas

Alexander Laas (born 13 October 1982) is a German former professional footballer who played primarily as a defensive midfielder or centre-back. Known for his robust playing style and versatility, Laas spent most of his career in German football, including stints in the Bundesliga.

Early Life and Career Born in Hamburg, West Germany, Laas began his footballing journey in the youth ranks of his hometown club, Hamburger SV. He progressed through their academy system, eventually making appearances for Hamburger SV II, the club's reserve team, in the Regionalliga Nord.

Professional Career Laas made his professional debut for Hamburger SV in the Bundesliga during the 2002–03 season. He remained with the club for several years, though often found himself on the fringes of the first team. To gain more playing time, he was loaned to Arminia Bielefeld for the 2005–06 season, where he made a number of appearances in the Bundesliga.

Following his spell at Bielefeld, Laas transferred to VfL Wolfsburg in 2006. He spent two seasons with Wolfsburg, contributing to their Bundesliga campaigns. In 2008, he moved to Rot Weiss Ahlen, where he played in the 2. Bundesliga and later 3. Liga. His time at Ahlen was marked by more consistent playing opportunities.

Laas's career was eventually impacted by persistent injuries, leading to his retirement from professional football at a relatively young age. Over his career, he accumulated experience across various levels of German football, including multiple seasons in the Bundesliga.
