Alan Drosky is an American collegiate athletics coach and former distance runner, best known for his long-standing tenure at the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech).
Athletic Career Drosky competed as a student-athlete for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets from 1982 to 1987. During his competitive career, he specialized in middle-distance events. He was a two-time All-American and secured five Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) individual championships. In recognition of his athletic achievements, he was inducted into the Georgia Tech Athletics Hall of Fame in 1996.
Coaching Career Drosky joined the Georgia Tech coaching staff as an assistant in 1990. In 1995, he was named the head coach of the women's cross country and track and field programs. He eventually transitioned into the role of head coach for both the men's and women's programs, overseeing the combined track and field and cross country departments.
Under his leadership, Georgia Tech athletes achieved numerous individual ACC titles and All-American honors. Drosky himself was named the ACC Coach of the Year on multiple occasions. His programs were noted for their academic performance as well as their athletic competitiveness within the conference.
Retirement In 2023, Drosky retired from his position at Georgia Tech. His departure marked the end of a continuous association with the university's athletic department that spanned over 40 years as an athlete, assistant coach, and head coach.
