Al Pedrique

Al Pedrique (born November 2, 1960) is a Venezuelan former professional baseball infielder, manager, and coach. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1985 to 1993 for the Texas Rangers, Chicago White Sox, New York Mets, Toronto Blue Jays, and Minnesota Twins. After retiring as a player, Pedrique held a variety of coaching and managerial positions, most notably serving as the manager of the Arizona Diamondbacks (2004–2005) and as an interim manager for the Washington Nationals in 2013.

Early life and playing career

  • Born in Barquisimeto, Lara State, Venezuela.
  • Signed as an amateur free agent by the Texas Rangers in 1979.
  • Made his MLB debut on August 2, 1985, with the Rangers.
  • Primarily played second base and shortstop; career batting average .221, with 12 home runs and 108 runs batted in over 483 games.

Coaching and managerial career
