Adrian Quesada is an American musician, songwriter, and producer based in Austin, Texas. He is primarily known for his work in the genres of psychedelic soul, Latin funk, and rock. Quesada is a co-founder of the band Black Pumas, alongside singer-songwriter Eric Burton, a project that received multiple Grammy Award nominations following its debut in 2019.
Quesada’s professional career includes the founding of several influential musical groups. He was a founding member of the Latin funk ensemble Grupo Fantasma, which won a Grammy Award for Best Latin Rock, Alternative or Urban Album in 2011 for the album El Existential. He also founded the funk group Brownout and the experimental collective Spanish Gold.
In addition to his work with ensembles, Quesada has released solo material and worked extensively as a producer. In 2022, he released two solo albums: Boleros Psicodélicos, which pays tribute to the "balada" music of 1960s and 1970s Latin America, and Jaguar Sound, an instrumental project blending hip-hop aesthetics with cinematic soul. His production style is noted for its integration of vintage analog sounds with contemporary recording techniques.
