Adrian Plank

Adrian Plank is an American politician who serves as a Democratic member of the Missouri House of Representatives, representing the 47th district. He assumed office on January 4 2023, following his election in November 2022.

Early life and education
Plank was born in Huntsville, Missouri. He attended Westran High School and later earned a degree from Central Missouri State University (now the University of Central Missouri).

Political career
In August 2022, Plank won the Democratic primary for the 47th district, defeating Chimene Schwach. He subsequently secured the general‑election seat by defeating Republican candidate John Martin, receiving approximately 52 percent of the vote. His district encompasses portions of Boone County, including the city of Columbia.

Since taking office, Plank has served on several legislative committees and has advocated for policies aligned with labor rights, small‑business concerns, and progressive Democratic priorities. He was re‑elected for a term that runs through January 2027.

Personal background
Before entering politics, Plank operated a small business, which he lost during the 2007 recession. He later joined a union in 2016, an experience that informed his political platform. Plank has cited figures such as Senator Bernie Sanders as influences on his political outlook.
