Adams Township is a civil township located in the southeastern part of Butler County in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, United States. It is part of the Pittsburgh Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Geography
The township occupies an area of approximately 24.8 square miles (64 km²), of which roughly 24.6 square miles is land and 0.2 square miles is water. It is bordered by the boroughs of Parsippany and Jackson Township to the north, Cranberry Township to the east, and the boroughs of Slippery Rock and Union Township to the west. Major transportation routes crossing the township include Pennsylvania Route 8 and Pennsylvania Route 28.
History
Adams Township was organized in the early 19th century, taking its name from John Adams, the second President of the United States, a common naming practice for townships established during that period. The area developed primarily as an agricultural community, later diversifying with the growth of residential subdivisions and small‑scale manufacturing in the mid‑20th century.

According to the 2020 United States Census, Adams Township had a population of 7,052 residents. The population density was about 286 people per square mile.
