Adam Bowden

Adam Bowden (born August 5, 1982) is a British professional triathlete and former middle-distance runner. He has represented both Wales and Great Britain in international competitions, initially specializing in track and field before transitioning to multisport events.

Early Athletic Career Bowden began his sporting career as a runner, specifically focusing on the 3000-meter steeplechase and cross-country running. He represented Wales at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, competing in the steeplechase. During his tenure as a track athlete, he achieved a personal best of 8:28.44 in the 3000m steeplechase.

Triathlon Career In 2008, Bowden transitioned to triathlon, joining the British Triathlon Olympic development squad. He competed extensively in the ITU (International Triathlon Union) World Triathlon Series (WTS). Throughout the mid-2010s, he was noted for his consistency, frequently finishing within the top ten in global rankings. His highest overall series finish was 9th in the world in both 2016 and 2017.

In 2014, Bowden represented Wales at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, finishing 10th in the individual men's triathlon and 6th in the mixed relay.

Long-Distance Transition Following his success in short-course draft-legal racing, Bowden shifted his focus to middle-distance events, specifically the Ironman 70.3 circuit. In 2018, he secured several podium finishes and placed 7th at the Ironman 70.3 World Championship in Nelson Mandela Bay, South Africa. In 2019, he won the Ironman 70.3 Dubai, establishing himself as a contender in non-drafting long-distance triathlon.

Competitive Style Bowden is characterized by a strong running background, which frequently allows him to gain positions during the final segment of triathlon events.
