Ad gloriam

Ad gloriam is the debut studio album by the Italian rock band Le Orme. It was released in 1969 and recorded in late 1918. The record showcases a musical style rooted in beat music, psychedelic rock, and early progressive rock influences, differing markedly from the more elaborate progressive sound the group later became known for.

The album has a total running time of approximately 35 minutes and 36 seconds and was issued by the label CAR Juke Box, with production overseen by Tony Tasinato. While Ad gloriam received modest contemporary attention, retrospective reviews have highlighted its historical significance as an early example of Italian rock transitioning toward the progressive genre.

The title ad gloriam is a Latin phrase meaning “for glory,” a sentiment occasionally reflected in the lyrical themes of the album’s tracks. Subsequent releases by Le Orme, such as Collage (1970), would further develop their progressive rock identity.
