The club won its first island title in 1985 and subsequently secured multiple championships, becoming the second‑most successful team on Fogo with 16 official regional titles as of the 2020s. In national competition, Académica has regularly represented Fogo. The team’s most successful recent period spanned the early 2010s, highlighted by a 2012‑13 regional title in which it set a then‑record 70 goals scored in a season.

Colours and crest
The home kit mirrors that of Académica de Coimbra: black shirts with white collars, white shorts, and black socks. The crest incorporates the name of the club, the year of foundation, and an illustration of the volcanic mountain that dominates Fogo Island.

Recent performance
In the 2016–17 season the club finished 12th in the Fogo Island League. It continues to compete annually in both the regional league and the national championship qualifiers.
