Aaron Wolf is an American film director, producer, and writer, recognized for his contributions to documentary filmmaking and narrative features.
Born in Los Angeles, California, Wolf has established a career working on a variety of film and television projects, often focusing on impactful and investigative storytelling. He is perhaps best known for directing and co-writing the 2014 documentary Divorce Corp., which provided a critical examination of the American family court system.
As a producer, Wolf has been involved with several highly acclaimed and award-winning documentaries. He served as a producer for the 2010 documentary Restrepo, which chronicled the experiences of U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan and received a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature. He was also an executive producer for the internationally renowned 2012 documentary The Act of Killing, which explored the Indonesian mass killings of 1965–66. The Act of Killing was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature and won the BAFTA Award for Best Documentary.
His other producing credits include the 2018 feature film The Last Movie Star, starring Burt Reynolds, and the 2019 CNN original documentary miniseries Tricky Dick, which delved into the life of Richard Nixon. Wolf has also directed short films, such as Maelstrom (2007).
