Aïn Abid District

Aïn Abid District is an administrative division, known as a daïra, located in the Constantine Province of northeastern Algeria. It is situated in the eastern part of the province and serves as a sub-provincial jurisdictional unit.

The district comprises two municipalities (communes):

  • Aïn Abid: The administrative center and namesake of the district.
  • Ibn Badis: A secondary municipality within the district's jurisdiction.

Geographically, the Aïn Abid District is positioned within the High Plains region of eastern Algeria. The landscape is characterized by its suitability for agriculture, which constitutes a significant portion of the local economy. The region is particularly noted for the production of cereals, including wheat and barley, benefiting from the Mediterranean climate and the fertile soil typical of the Constantine plateau.

As an administrative entity, the district is led by a district chief (Chef de Daïra) who acts as a representative of the provincial governor (Wali). The district's role involves coordinating municipal services, overseeing local development projects, and managing civil administrative tasks for the resident population. It is connected to the regional capital, Constantine, via the national road network, facilitating economic and social integration within the province.
