Açıkyol, Nusaybin

Açıkyol (Kurdish: Aferî) is a neighbourhood (formerly a village) in the municipality and district of Nusaybin, within Mardin Province in southeastern Turkey. According to the Address‑Based Population Registration System (ADNKS) data for 2021, the settlement had a total population of 75 residents.

Geography
Açıkyol is situated at 37°10′37″ N latitude and 41°10′55″ E longitude, at an elevation typical of the region’s rugged terrain. The neighbourhood lies in the eastern part of Mardin Province, near the border with Syria, and is administratively part of the Nusaybin district.

Demographics
The inhabitants of Açıkyol are predominantly ethnic Kurds belonging to the Koçekan tribe. The Kurdish name for the settlement, Aferî, reflects this linguistic and cultural affiliation.

Administrative status
Historically classified as a village, Açıkyol was re‑designated as a neighbourhood (mahallah) following Turkey’s administrative reforms that incorporated many rural settlements into larger municipal structures.
