History
- Founding and launch – The company was incorporated in 1995 and began offering service to consumers in 1996. Its operations were headquartered in Redwood City, California.
- Growth – @Home Network rapidly expanded its subscriber base by partnering with regional cable television operators, who installed cable‑modem equipment in customers’ homes.
- Merger with Excite – In 1999, @Home Network merged with the web portal Excite, forming the combined entity Excite@Home, Inc. The merger was intended to integrate content, advertising, and broadband distribution.
- Bankruptcy and dissolution – Following the dot‑com crash and mounting financial difficulties, Excite@Home filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in 2001. The company’s assets were subsequently liquidated, and the @Home Network brand ceased operations.
