The 2019 Peach Bowl was a college football bowl game played on December 28, 2019, at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. Officially known as the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl for sponsorship purposes, the game was the 52nd edition of the Peach Bowl. It served as one of two semifinal matchups for the College Football Playoff (CFP) to determine which team would advance to the 2020 College Football Playoff National Championship.
The contest featured the No. 1 ranked LSU Tigers, champions of the Southeastern Conference (SEC), and the No. 4 ranked Oklahoma Sooners, champions of the Big 12 Conference. LSU entered the game with an undefeated 13–0 record, while Oklahoma entered with a 12–1 record.
LSU defeated Oklahoma with a final score of 63–28. The game was notable for several statistical records in the context of the College Football Playoff and bowl season. LSU quarterback Joe Burrow completed 29 of 39 passes for 493 yards and seven passing touchdowns, all of which occurred in the first half. Burrow also added a rushing touchdown in the second half, totaling eight touchdowns for the game. Wide receiver Justin Jefferson set a New Year's Six bowl record by catching four touchdown passes, all in the first half, and finished with 227 receiving yards.
Oklahoma’s offense was led by quarterback Jalen Hurts, who recorded 217 passing yards and two rushing touchdowns. Despite the Sooners' efforts, the LSU offense produced 692 total yards compared to Oklahoma's 322.
With the victory, LSU advanced to the National Championship game, where they eventually defeated Clemson to secure the national title. The 2019 Peach Bowl remains one of the highest-scoring games in the history of the College Football Playoff semifinals.
