2008 Atlantic 10 Conference baseball tournament

The 2008 Atlantic 10 Conference Baseball Championship was held from May 21 through 24 at Campbell's Field in Camden, New Jersey. It featured the top six regular-season finishers of the conference's 14 teams in a six-team double-elimination format, with first-round byes awarded to the top two seeds. Second-seeded Charlotte defeated Xavier in the title game to win the tournament for the second straight year, earning the A-10's automatic bid to the 2008 NCAA tournament.

Format and Seeding

The league's top six teams, based on winning percentage in the 27-game regular-season schedule, were seeded one through six. The top two seeds (Xavier and Charlotte) received byes into the second round. Xavier earned the top seed via the conference's tiebreaking procedures after finishing tied with Charlotte at 19–8 (.704).

Tournament Results

In the upper bracket, #5 Rhode Island defeated #4 Temple (7–5) and #3 Duquesne defeated #6 St. Bonaventure (16–6) in the first round. In the second round, #2 Charlotte beat #3 Duquesne (13–7), and #5 Rhode Island upset #1 Xavier (11–4). Charlotte then defeated Rhode Island in the upper final (11–1). In the lower bracket, Xavier eliminated Temple (9–5) and then defeated Rhode Island (3–0) in the lower final to set up a rematch with Charlotte. In the championship game, Charlotte defeated Xavier 4–3 (11 innings) to win the title.
